We are situated in mid Cumbria but to
the east, approximately 90 miles north of Manchester, 140 miles south
of Glasgow and Edinburgh. We are 45 miles from Scotch corner if coming
from the east. We are situated midway between Kendal and Penrith in
Cumbria, if travelling on the M6 come off at exit 38 (Tebay). lf coming
from Kendal follow instructions from now. Off the motorway you face
a large roundabout, take 2nd exit A685 to Scotch corner, Brough, Kirkby
Stephen. Travel along this main straight road for 1 mile, at this point
turn sharp left on the B6261 ( this is a Y junction so you almost need
to stop to turn don't go past the white house). Come along road. over
bridge there is a farm hamlet on the right ( Raisgill Hall ) and continue
1/2 mile and we are the next turn to the right. Again a very sharp turn
that requires you to stop until safe to cross. Then down the lane 50
yards turn right and come through the car park down to bottom of hill
and turn left, you are with us. When you have unpacked take the car
up to car park ( if dark torch in hallway ). lf disabled park down near
building but do not block us in.
lf coming from Brough, Kirkby Stephen,
Scotch corner you continue on the A685, about 12 miles from Kirkby Stephen
you turn right onto the B6261 and follow instructions as above.
lf traveling by train the nearest train
stations are Oxenholme from the South and Penrith from the north, there
is also a station at Kirkby Stephen on the Carlisle to Settle line.
Taxis from Oxenholme or Penrith are about £35 There is a bus service
from Kendal and Penrith to Orton, Tebay or Shap , schedules change so
it is best to ring first ( 0870 6082608 )
